Theology 16: He cares about you

He cares about you

Psalm 145:18a, 19b, “The Lord is near to all who call on him, he hears their cry and saves them.”

“Is anyone listening? Does anyone care? Why does it matter?” Those thoughts have entered by mind before, and maybe yours too. Have you ever felt alone, removed, unloved?

There is a loneliness epidemic right now. A recent survey from “CNN: Health” found that nearly 1 in 4 adults felt alone. Young adults ages 19-29 had the highest rates. Our society is more connected than ever before, but also lonelier than ever before. Is there an answer for this?

Jesus gives a powerful answer. Our God is not just a force. He’s not some deity who sits up in the clouds. He’s not impersonal. Jesus knows you. He cares about you. He knows your fears, your worries, your hobbies, your favorite kind of pie. Even more than that, he lived in this world. He knows the stresses and problems we face.

Jesus cares so much that he came into this world to die for our sin, to save us. By his life, he gives us forgiveness, perfection, and eternal life.

Jesus still cares about you. He promises this, “Surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” No matter what pains or problems you face, Jesus is there. He stands right next to you. He promises to bring you home to heaven. Trust in the one who cares about you.
