Let God Speak #11: The Solution for Racism

Ephesians 2:14, 18, “For (Christ) himself is our peace, who has made the two groups (Jews & Gentiles) one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility… For through him we (Jews & Gentiles) both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”

The Solution for Racism

Wow, that’s a pretty bold title. You might even call it arrogant. How could anybody claim to have the “solution” for racism? Could anything stop the endless cycle of division, resentment, and hate that marks our history and unify humankind?

Yes. Jesus Christ. He is the solution for racism, the answer for division of any kind. Here’s why: Jesus teaches that we are all horrible people, capable of tremendous evil and perpetrators of pain to others. However, Jesus took every single injustice and wrong that has ever been done on himself. He was punished, abandoned, and killed in our place. Then he rose to prove that he conquered sin and death. Now, he gives life and forgiveness to every single person under the sun.

In Christ, humankind is equal. The color of your skin, the salary you have, the house you live in… it doesn’t matter. We are all equally sinful, horrible people. We are all equally saved, forgiven, and washed by the blood of Jesus Christ. Could there be a better reason to help the lowly, the down-trodden, the poor, the oppressed? How could a Christian, who believes such love, not act?
