Theology 11: A Relationship With God
A Relationship with God
Romans 11:33-34a, “Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments, and his paths beyond tracing out! Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Humor me, for a moment. If there was a God who created everything in the universe, it would make sense that he is unknowable, right? If God created the sun, the stars, and the very laws of nature, what are we compared to him? An ant to a human? This is the God we find in the Bible. We can never fully know or comprehend him. That is a tough truth! But it is the truth.
Here comes the truly amazing part: This God wants to have a relationship with you. He wants to love you, to be loved and known by you. For this relationship to work, it must be God that comes to us. It is impossible for us, on our own, to reach him.
God establishes this relationship through his Son. Jesus shed his blood to make peace between us and God.
God establishes this relationship through his Word. The Word tells the story of Jesus. The Word creates faith. The Word teaches us God’s will.
This Christmas season, when you see Jesus in the manger, believe in him and in the one who wants to have a relationship with you.
