Let God Speak #25: A Beautiful World

Genesis 1:1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”

A Beautiful World

God has truly given us such a beautiful world. Mountains, stars, valleys, streams, forests, and fields all meld into stunning landscapes. Most importantly, the people God places here are blessings beyond description, the crown of God’s creation. We delight to care for such a gift!

But all is not well. Like an ancient painting, cracked and flaking, our world is scarred, both land and people. Sickness. Blight. Pain. Suffering. Oppression. Waste. Death. Destruction. Look no further than news articles and history books to see the damage. The beauty shines. The problems glare. Sin has wreaked havoc.

This world, with all its beauty, is a shadow of what’s to come. All is not well, but a time will come when everything is made right. No pain, sickness, tears, or death. God has promised a new heavens and a new earth to those who hope in Jesus. A home with no sin. A beautiful world.

Therefore, while we wait for this hope of a new world, we love and take care of this world, as stewards of God’s creation. Do you see the beautiful strength Jesus gives? Christians have, so to speak, a foot firmly planted in both camps. This hope frees us to love this beautiful world. This hope brings us through any pain or misery we face in this scarred world. This hope points us to our future, beautiful world. Our home.
