Weekly Devotion: A gracious, loving Master

A gracious, loving Master

Matthew 25:14-15, “14 “Again, it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted his wealth to them. 15 To one he gave five bags of gold, to another two bags, and to another one bag, each according to his ability. Then he went on his journey.”

We are all guilty of a very terrible, very deadly sin. I know that you do it, because I do it too. What am I talking about? The deadly, terrible, agonizing sin of comparison.

It creates such shame and guilt, doesn’t it? “Why is he more popular? She’s just so much better at sports than I am. Why does their family look so much happier? If only my life was more like his…. Why do things come to easy for her? I’m not enough. I don’t measure up. I’m a failure.” Have you ever thought something similar to that? I know I have!

When we compare ourselves to others, we’re burdened with failure and not measuring up.

What’s the answer?

Know what kind of God you have.

You have a God who has made you special and beautiful, exactly as you are. Of course you’re different! We all are. And what an amazing blessing that is. Like beautiful flakes of snow, no one is the same.

What does God want from us? Only two things.

1) To know Jesus our Savior.

 2) To use whatever gifts he’s given us for his glory.
