Psalm 1 - A Tree Planted By Streams Of Water
Psalm 1:1-3 “Blessed is the one… whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water.”
Water flows over roots in the bank. The tree grows tall and strong, nourished by the black soil and crystal-clear water. Its branches spread their fingers across the sky. The leaves shadow the ground underneath. Deer, squirrels, and other animals drink from the stream and cool off in the shade. Can you picture it? Blessed is the tree planted by streams of water.
Blessed are the ones who plant themselves in the Word of God, who drink from the water of life that is Jesus Christ. Hope is theirs, hope in eternal paradise. Peace is theirs, the peace that our sins are forgiven. Joy is theirs, the joy that they are God’s beloved children.
The Word of God tells us about God’s love for us in Jesus Christ. This story runs from Genesis to Revelation, from the beginning of time to now to eternity. No matter what comes our way, hunger, pain, sickness, or death, we are planted in God’s Word. We rest content. We know that forgiveness, life, and salvation is ours.
Plant yourself in God’s Word. Drink from Jesus Christ. Learn what Jesus Christ has done for you. The one who does this is a tree planted by streams of water.
