Let God Speak #33: The Scarlet Thread

Luke 24:25-27, “He said to them, “How foolish you are, and how slow to believe all that the prophets have spoken! Did not the Messiah have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?” And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.

The Scarlet Thread

The Bible can be confusing. The names, places, and stories swirl around our heads and cause headaches. One might ask, “What’s the point of it all? How can I make sense of it?”

There is a key that unlocks the whole Bible. There is a scarlet thread, soaked with blood, that winds through every single chapter of the Bible. It’s tied in Genesis 1 and runs all the way to Revelation 22. This key, this scarlet thread, is Jesus. All of Scripture points to him.

But it doesn’t talk in the way some think. Jesus isn’t just an example, motivation, or an excuse to feel good about ourselves. We butcher the story when that happens.

The Bible tells the story of our sin and Jesus’ salvation. Jesus suffered and died for all our sin, every single one. Jesus rose from the grave to give us eternal life. He entered into glory to show us where we will go. This is what it’s all about. The scarlet thread that binds our hearts to him. May this be our #1 message every day, every week.
